DDG51 spotlighted by CNSL

#WarshipWednesday: Fast and Feared 💥🌊⚓️

This Warship Wednesday, we spotlight the formidable USS Arleigh Burke (DDG 51), the lead ship of the Arleigh Burke-class of guided missile destroyers. Commissioned on July 4, 1991, in Norfolk, Virginia, Arleigh Burke marked a new era of naval warfare—combining stealth, speed, and multi-mission capability into one sleek and lethal platform.

Named in honor of Admiral Arleigh A. Burke, a legendary World War II destroyer squadron commander and former Chief of Naval Operations, this vessel carries forward his legacy of bold leadership and operational excellence. The ship’s advanced Aegis Combat System enables it to detect, track, and neutralize air, surface, and subsurface threats with unmatched precision.

Throughout its distinguished service, USS Arleigh Burke has been on the frontlines of global security—supporting ballistic missile defense, conducting freedom of navigation operations, and strengthening partnerships through multinational exercises.

Currently homeported in Rota, Spain, USS Arleigh Burke stands as a testament to innovation and resilience in the fleet. Her crew remains vigilant and mission-ready, upholding a proud legacy of strength, service, and sea power.
