CWO4 Joseph “Nick” Moore

Nick Moore passed away in August 2024 from complications of brain cancer.

Mr. Moore enlisted in the Navy in 1975 and spent over 23 years active duty, advancing from Operations Specialist Seaman to Chief Warrant Officer 4.

Mr. Moore served on the following vessels and shore commands:
– USS Rich (DD 820)
– USS Aylwin (FF 1081)
– USS William V. Pratt (DDG 44)
– USS Dewey (DDG 45)
– USS Arleigh Burke (DDG 51) [Plankowner]
– USS Laboon (DDG 58)
– Air intercept controller/air intercept controller supervisor instructor at Fleet Combat Training Center Atlantic in Dam Neck, Virginia,
– Senior enlisted advisor and lead watch officer at the Anti Air Warfare Center and Joint Aerial Reconnaissance Control Center in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba
– Officer in charge, Aegis Training and Readiness Center (ATRC), Detachment Norfolk, Virginia.

From 1998 to 2017, Mr. Moore supported ATRC / Center for Surface Combat Systems as lead contractor instructor at Detachments Norfolk and Mayport.

Mr. Nick Moore supportedNaval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center, Detachment Dahlgren; the Navy’s primary authority and lead organization for Naval Joint and Coalition Integrated Air and Missile Defense matters. Mr. Moore joined Detachment Dahlgren as a contractor from DDL OMNI, serving as a senior systems engineer.

Mr. Moore operated and trained on all the Aegis Baselines from 1.7 thru 9 and Ballistic Missile Defense Baselines 3.6/4.0. He also trained on Ship Self Defense System ships with MK2 Mods 1 to 4. Mr. Moore was a fully qualified instructor on the following shipboard watch stations: Anti-Air Warfare Coordinator, Surface Warfare Coordinator, Surface Subsurface Warfare Coordinator, Air Defense Warfare Coordinator, Ballistic Missile Defense Officer and Tactical Action Officer.
