AEGIS BMD / SM-3 Defensive Operations

In the early morning hours of April 14, Arleigh Burke and USS Carney (DDG 64) supported U.S. Central Command in destroying multiple one-way attack UAVs and ballistic missiles launched toward Israel from Iran and Iranian proxy groups.

Additionally, on April 13, 2024, Carney alongside USS Arleigh Burke (DDG 51), successfully engaged Iranian ballistic missiles fired at Israel.

Israeli Defense Force Deputy Chief Visits USS Carney

A U.S. Army Patriot battery in Erbil, Iraq, took down a ballistic missile, and the USS Arleigh Burke and USS Carney in the Eastern Mediterranean took down four to six ballistic missiles, officials added.

Fighters Knock Down Drones Headed for Israel

This is the first reported use of the SM-3 in combat operations.

Following operations in defense of Israel, the ship conducted multiple escort operations in support of humanitarian efforts in Gaza. Multiple media reports indicated this included defense of the Gaza humanitarian pier.
